Tapestry
This 20th century tapestry required washing, repairing of slits and lining. I worked on this project along with three other student conservators. It was first manually cleaned to remove dust, then washed, which removed a good deal of yellow degradation products. It was then dried on a suction table to prevent bleeding of dyes. The open slits were sewn up, and a new lining was made to protect the back of the tapestry from dust. Finally, the hanging rings were sewn back onto the lining.
