Laotian wall hangings
A private client had seven woven Laotian textiles which she wanted turned into wall hangings. Each piece was hand woven and unique, with a variety of colours, patterns and motifs. I lined each textile and added hanging loops to allow them to be displayed. Because they were hand woven, many of them were quite irregular, having edges that were wavy or curved, and being difficult to lie flat, which presented an interesting challenge. For the lining fabrics, I chose colours which complemented the colours seen on the textiles. Transforming these textiles into wall hangings gave them a new function, meaning they would no longer be hidden away in a drawer and can be appreciated for the beautiful objects they are.
